SATA or PATA DVD drives?

I have been researching this question, which to buy: an SATA or PATA DVD drive?
The SATA has a disadvantage of not being able to play audio CDs; there are no audio connectors.
Although, I don't remember any audio cables on my macs, and they play audio CD. Different on windows?
I guess the manufacturers decided to save money not including the connectors, although they are charging more for the SATA drives.
And many people these days are not listening to CDs; they are ripping them and listening to MP3s or some other format, so maybe it is not such a big deal.
Also, I thought to myself, you might have extra IDE cables, but no extra SATA cables.
Plus the DVD is not going to use the SATA speed.
If you are concerned with airflow, you could get a round IDE cable.
So, the only advantage I can see to SATA DVD drive is there are no jumpers.
Anything I missed?
